Scope of Operations
The comprehensive mandate of the Interim Management Committee
The IMC is constituted to oversee all professional boxing activities and related matters in Ghana, establishing a framework for excellence, safety, and sustainable development of the sport.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic mandates guiding the transformation of Ghana Boxing
- Oversee reforms and implement ministerial recommendations to modernize Ghana's boxing ecosystem and governance structures.
- Act as the interim body for sanctioning professional boxing bouts and facilitate the activities of all boxing operatives and stakeholders.
- Establish comprehensive medical and anti-doping protocols alongside technical standards for all professional boxing bouts.
- Propose regulatory oversight modalities and governance structures for professional boxing in Ghana.
- Develop procedures for the smooth transitioning of athletes from amateur to professional boxing careers.
- Propose and administer modalities for the restructuring of a professional boxing association/body.
- Establish directives and guidelines to ensure improved insurance for athletes, enhanced training for officials, and improved boxer welfare and safety.
- Conduct elections for new executive board of the professional boxing association, ensuring transparent and democratic process with fair stakeholder representation.
- Develop manuals for capacity-building for technical officials and training regimes for athletes at all levels.
- Develop a comprehensive roadmap for attracting investment, promoting sports tourism and enhancing Ghana boxing competitiveness.
- Address all relevant matters to administer, manage and enhance the image of boxing, safeguarding interests and safety of all participants and patrons.

Promotions, Health, Medical & Welfare Committee
Ensuring the safe return and sustainable future of Ghana Boxing
As part of the IMC's operations, specialized sub-committees will be introduced, beginning with the Promotions, Medical, Health and Welfare Committee.
The Committee will be mandated to design an Immediate Return to Boxing Framework and Checklist. Once a promoter satisfies every item on this checklist, approval will be granted for bouts to proceed while the broader reforms of the main committee continue.
This sub-committee will draft the immediate framework for the safe return of boxing and present it to the main committee for approval. The goal is to resume boxing swiftly but responsibly, ensuring that every event places the highest priority on the health and welfare of athletes.
We recognise boxing as an integral part of Ghana's sporting culture. Yet, faced with undeniable gaps in medical and welfare standards, we must ensure that when boxing returns it does so with structures strong enough to protect every fighter. Should an incident occur, as happens even in the best prepared jurisdictions, it will not be the result of systemic gaps.
By taking these steps, we will restore public confidence, attract investment to strengthen our systems, and guarantee that after all is said and done Ghana Boxing Wins.
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) for Professional Boxing in Ghana is constituted under the authority of the National Sports Authority (NSA) with approval of the Minister for Sports and Recreation to oversee all professional boxing activities and related matters in Ghana.
